It combines both the Initial Verification and the Periodic Inspection and condition reporting of electrical installation and is based primarily on BS7671 18th Edition and the IET Guidance Note 3.

This qualification has been designed to incorporate BS7671:2018 Amendment 2 (2022).

Pre-Requisite

There are no formal pre-requisites to this qualification but it is recommended that learners should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory and ideally be working within the electrical or a related industry.

Learners should contact ACS Gas Training for further advice and guidance on suitability to undertake the qualification.

Course Objective

This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their knowledge in all aspects of testing electrical installation systems in the UK.

It combines both the Initial Verification and the Periodic Inspection and condition reporting of electrical installation and is based primarily on BS7671 18th Edition and the IET Guidance Note 3.

This qualification has been designed to incorporate BS7671:2018 Amendment 2 (2022).

This qualification is part of a suite of electrical qualifications including BS7671, Initial Verification, Periodic Inspection (Condition Reporting).

  • Understand the requirements for completing the safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
  • Understand the requirements for the use of test instruments used to carry out inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • Understand the requirements for completing the inspection of electrical installations
  • Understand the requirements for testing before circuits are energised
  • Understand the requirements for testing energised installations
  • Understand the requirements for the initial verification, testing and commissioning of electrical installations
  • Understand the requirements for the completion of electrical installation certificates and associated documentation
  • Be able to confirm safe systems of work and the suitability of the electrical installation for initial verification
  • Be able to test electrical installations prior to them being placed into service
  • Be able to complete and report the outcome of the initial verification and issue the electrical installation certificate to the client
  • Be able to commission the electrical installation
  • Understand the requirements for periodic inspecting and testing of electrical installations.
  • Understand the requirements for the completion of electrical installation condition reports and associated documentation.
  • Be able to confirm safe systems of work and the suitability of the electrical installation for periodic inspection and testing.
