LCL Awards Level 3 Certificate In Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installations in Dwellings

This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their skills and knowledge as a Qualified Supervisor for Competent Person Schemes in the UK. It is based primarily on BS7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations. IET Wiring Regulations) along with other relevant regulations.

Pre-Requisite

There are no formal prerequisites to this qualification but it is recommended that candidates should have suitable knowledge of electrical theory, ideally be working within the electrical industry and have access to a qualified mentor in order to complete this qualification.

Training Aids

Lecture notes, audio-visual presentation and a range of domestic electrical appliances and models.

Assessment

Assessment via: e-assessments and work performance activities which include on-site performance which will be recorded via the LCL Awards portfolio management system.

Course Objective

This regulated qualification is for learners that wish to demonstrate their skills and knowledge as a Qualified Supervisor for Competent Person Schemes in the UK. The qualification provides under pinning knowledge to comply with current legislation and the requirements laid out in the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification document.

  • Understand and Apply Health and Safety legislation, practices and procedures in electrical installations. LCL-Q3001
  • Understand and apply environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems associated with electrical installations. LCL-Q3002
  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for overseeing and organising the work environment when installing electrical installations. LCL-Q3003
  • Electrotechnical Occupational Competence – Approval of Electrical Installations. LCL-Q3004
  • Understanding and applying the principles, practices and procedures for the planning, preparation and selection of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment. LCL-Q3005
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical installations. LCL-Q3006
  • Understand and apply the practices and procedures for the installation and connection of wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment. LCL-Q3007
  • Understand and apply the principles, practices and legislation for the inspection, testing, commissioning, approving and certification of electrical installations. LCL-Q3008
